چکیده

Background Radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation is an effective treatment for patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF). Cardiovascular MR (CMR) may be obtained preprocedurally to assess pulmonary vein (PV) anatomy and be incorporated into electroanatomical mapping. Previous studies have reported the prevalence of incidental non-cardiac findings on CMR. Few, however, have documented the prevalence of incidental cardiac findings (ICFs) on clinical CMR. These findings represent clinically significant entities that can often alter ablation strategy and change patient management.

Effect of Oral Anticoagulant Therapy on Coagulation Activity and Inflammatory Markers in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Ablation: A Randomized Comparison between Dabigatran and Warfarin

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with inflammatory and hypercoagulability state. Previous studies evaluated the safety and efficacy of dabigatran and warfarin in prevention of thrombothic complications. This study was intended to assess the influence of these drugs on hemostatic and inflammatory markers among patient underwent pulmonary vein ablation.   A total of 100 patients with AF w...

Tailored management of atrial fibrillation using a LGE-MRI based model: from the clinic to the electrophysiology laboratory.

Ablation provides a good therapeutic alternative for atrial fibrillation (AF) management; however, its effectiveness relies in adequate patient selection. Late gadolinium enhancement-magnetic resonance imaging (LGE-MRI) allows for atrial arrhythmic substrate, as well as postablation scarring visualization. In this article, we describe a new staging system for AF based on the amount of left atri...

Incidental MRI findings of left ventricular myocardial scar in atrial fibrillation patients is associated with increased stroke risk

Background Left ventricular late gadolinium enhancement (LV-LGE) is a known incidental cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) finding in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients and has recently been associated with increased mortality [1]. While LV-LGE is an indicator of poor prognosis in patients with cardiomyopathy, data on the clinical significance of incidental findings of LV-LGE in AF patients is stil...

MRI of the left atrium: predicting clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation is a significant public health burden, with clinically, epidemiologically and economically significant repercussions. In the last decade, catheter ablation has provided an improvement in morbidity and quality of life, significantly reducing long-term healthcare costs and avoiding recurrences compared with drug therapy. Despite recent progress in techniques, current catheter ...
